This course introduces the fundamental concepts and principles of Design of Steel Structures in Civil Engineering, focusing on the analysis and design of steel members and connections as per relevant IS codes. Students will learn about material properties, load considerations, structural behavior, and design methodologies for beams, columns, tension members, and various types of joints. The emphasis will be on developing both theoretical understanding and practical design skills through problem-solving and detailing.
All assignments, quizzes, and activity-based learning tasks for this course will be conducted through Moodle, enabling a structured and interactive learning experience. Students are encouraged to actively participate, complete the tasks within deadlines, and engage with the provided resources to enhance their grasp of steel structure design.
